From soil to sip
Yield is an online cultural resource delivering intelligent, engaging stories and commentary on the wine community.
Our Beliefs
We believe good wine matters, from soil to sip.
We all live on the same rock, and the glass you choose to drink or make today means more than ever before. From starting conversations on fascinating topics in wine, to highlighting leaders in winemaking, to working with wineries that are true stewards in the community, we believe that everything is connected, that the inputs make the outputs, and that good wine comes from great people.
We believe in the power of Positive Growth Wine.
A good harvest has impact beyond the vine. From the soil that supplies the nutrients, to the farmworker that labors through harvest, to the community that supports the vineyard, we believe the best wine comes from crafting equity for everyone and creating positive growth in society.
We believe wine is best served with knowledge.
No one has all the answers. We all have a part to play, and ours is building a community around intelligent and engaging reporting and commentary to keep the conversation going . . . from soil to sip.
Our Mission
We’re dedicated to creating positive growth in the wine community through intelligent and engaging reporting and commentary.
We believe that the best wine comes from good people doing great things together. We’re here to spotlight the stories of stewardship, of creativity, and of positive growth in the wine community and beyond. Because good wine matters, from soil to sip.

“Great wine is made by good people.”
Jillian is a Chicago-based sommelier, beverage director, writer, and co-founder of Yield Wine. An avid learner with a thirst for travel and a penchant for penmanship, her studies abroad in France led to her first experience of wine as culture, and she was hooked. Returning to her off-campus Brooklyn apartment, she gobbled up Hugh Johnson books—probing her local wine shopkeeper for pairing advice for her simple, college-budget dinners.
Since that first wine experience, she has enjoyed a career in hospitality helping to build some of the best wine lists in Chicago—traveling across the globe to learn more about winemaking, and apprenticing as a winemaker for the 2020 California wine harvest with Bulgheroni Estate Vineyards, a Napa Valley Estate with a profound connection between wine and land striving to craft wine emblematic of the terroir.
Jillian takes special interest in the ethics of the wine business and its effects on the environment, worker, and consumer. For her, “Great wine is made by good people.”
